Anniversary Update!!

Sorry, I know I promised an update but things got crazy today! More people looking at the house, a small electrical fire and a less-than-pleasant baby make for no time to blog!

So, here is what happened. About two weeks ago I posted on Well Trained Mind that I needed some gift ideas for my upcoming ten year anniversary. I got some really useful ideas, but the best was from Jess, she suggested I do a scavenger hunt. I really liked that idea and began to brainstorm! I enlisted the help of my sister, because she is so much better at being creative and fun than I am. This is what we came up with:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Clue #1
This begins the first part of your anniversary scavenger hunt. I am not home (obviously) so you can kick back and relax for the next hour. I have laid your clothes out on the bed, everything is ready to go and the only thing you can change is the socks. If you want coffee just turn on the coffee pot or else we can have it later.
You will need to leave our house at 5:00, just to be on the safe side. We have a dinner reservation at 6:oo, and you will find out where shortly. Take the truck when you leave, as I have transportation to our final destination.
Your first clue is to go to the neighbors house that reminds our our fine, feathered friends!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Days before, I had enlisted the help of our wonderful neighbors (they have a bird-like last name, hence the clue). They were more than willing to help and excited to be included. Also, Laurie said she would watch Joe and drive me to the restaurant so we didn't have to be in separate cars.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Clue #2
Your getting closer!
Now, go find Whee-Dawgies.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Whee-Dawgies is Kevin's brother. He loves the Beverly Hillbillies and, especially, that catch phrase.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Clue #3
Now you are on your way to your final destination. Unscramble these letters from a place in my hometown to see where your surprise awaits!
GRANENOS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I sent him, all dressed up in a suit and tie in 99 degree heat, to a pizza parlor! A waitress there, who knows us, agreed to give him the final clue to our real destination. I was hoping that he would maintain his sense of humor, especially in the heat. He works outside, so putting on a suit and tie, after clocking 8 plus hours in the heat and humidity, was a real labor of love!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Clue #4
Did you really think I would make you get all dressed up in a suit to eat at Gennaro's? Your last destination, I promise, is:
La Fontana Ristorante
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We met at La Fontana and enjoyed a superb dinner and great conversation! He was so happy that I went through the trouble to surprise him like that. He said it was one of the best gifts I had ever given him. It is a lot of fun to eat like you are wealthy!

Thank-you all for the beautiful sentiments and well wishes! Thanks to Jess, for her great idea. O.K. I blogged already, leave me alone!!! LOL!

YAY, I can get off the computer now..LOL

I'm SO glad you guys had such a great time. And that he was such a good sport! You were way more creative then I could have been. I loved reading about it, I think in Nov I may think of one to do with DH here. :-)

Oh and fires, cranky babies, and buyers are NO excuses for keeping us in suspense so long. Well, maybe the cranky baby is... ;-)

So glad you had a memorable anniversary! You guys are the sweetest couple..

I promise, I'll stop stalking you now. ;-)

laney forgot to include that I accidently turned on the heated seat in the car as I scavenged! Did she tell you that I have sweating problem to begin with!All in all it was very fun but I was wishing our anniversary was in January. The electrical fire has been snuffed out and all the lights work. Kevin

Sounds like it's been quite the adventurous week at your house! I am so excited for you guys, and cannot wait for you to get yerselves to a lower tax level state - you know, get to keep some of that money Kevin works so hard to earn. ;-) Still praying!

What a wonderful way to spend your anniversary. On my I spent my tenth anniversary recovering from the birth of my 5th child. We went to the A&W and had coney dogs!

A & W now stands for Anniversary Weekend and we go there every year.
