I said I would try to post the new schedule and forgot, but then I remembered. So did I really forget? Things that make you go, hmmmm.
So here we go:

John:

After months of homeschooling I have found that if I start off the morning with our electives, I am more likely to get them accomplished. In the past I began with the skill subjects and was letting the others slide. So this way, everything gets accomplished and we have a full day. I know it looks like a lot but it only takes us about three and a half hours. Leaving plenty of time for read alouds and outside play. I also give them quite a few breaks, Jeremy more so. Jeremy gets included in everything that we do and I really tend to treat him more as a second grader then a kindergartener. I have been amazed at what he has picked up, purely from listening.
John has required reading and fun reading. His required reading is from library books. On a science day he reads science books coordinating with whatever lesson we had that morning. For instance, we have been studying the human body and I grabbed a bunch of Seymour Simon (love his books!) books from the library. They are a little more advanced but it challenges him. So he has been reading about the brain, muscles and bones. For history I do the same except the curriculum I am using gives some fabulous book recommendations and I am lucky enough to be able to find about 90% of them between my three libraries. For composer and poet study I do the same. I am amazed at the number of children's books on these subjects.
Jeremy just started to read so I read aloud a lot for his benefit. When John is reading I try to read aloud only to Jeremy, usually a book more on his level i.e. Magic School Bus. He loves this time with me and I regret to say it does not happen as much as I would like. Once Joe is awake from his nap, well, you know! It becomes harder to give Jeremy that one on one time.
So far this schedule has been great. Homeschooling is an everchanging beast and you have got to roll with the punches or be TKO!!

I have a similar schedule except we do skill subjects first-this gives me a chance to get the kids started and finish some things I need to do and then after math/language I can sit down with them and read. I am already looking forward to next year-adding more hands-on and more reading time together. It's that ever-changing beast thing, ya know!
WOW - you work your tail off! That is great that you put yourself and the boys on a schedule - it makes life (& learning) easier. You are an inspiration!
I like your schedule- but I have a really hard time sticking to one so I am wishing you all the best in your time management efforts! ;)I like to see other people succeed in areas that I struggle with- maybe I can learn something!
