Just One More Thing I Don't Understand

Here I sit, deeply engrossed in spider solitaire, nursing my cold with hot cocoa. The boys and Kevin are sitting in the family room watching Extreme Sports Disasters or some nonsense like that. I keep hearing them yell things like, "Ohhh" and, "Ouch" and, "That was bad."

Curiosity got the best of me and so I took a peek. The one clip that I saw was of a car race. One of the pit crew did something wrong with a fuel line and set two of the other crew members on fire. The boys find this fascinating! My thought, You don't see a bunch of women setting each other on fire. You don't even see women driving race cars. Why? Because we have common sense and know that fire is dangerous!

The next thing I hear is the narrator giving the blow by blow details of a base jumping accident. Base jumping is jumping off of a cliff (what??) with nothing but a parachute. You have to open the parachute at just the right moment you they will be able to bury you in a CD case. What a lovely sport.

Apparently, the base jumper misjudged the wind and slammed into a cliff. The narrator actually said, "The man is confused and tries to figure out what happened to him." At this point, I could no longer contain myself and I yell into the family room, "I'll tell you what happened! You jumped off of a cliff and hit the mountain. Normal people don't do things like that."

No one answered me. Sigh. I am all alone in a house of testosterone and Extreme Sports Accidents.

Look to the finish!

How FUNNY! Just yesterday morning Honey and sonny boy were sitting here watching "2005" Plane Crashes. Ok, those are accidents but WHO sits and watches such things so intently? Man, I'm so glad I'm not a MAN! LOL

ROFL! I saw that on TV tonight but we watched ABC's Bloopers instead. It did have a woman reporter than went down a VERY steep road on a skateboard and lost her helmet and wig on camera though. So it's not *just* men. ;-)

DH is fascinated by destructive forces of nature too - I just don't get it either.

Hope you feel better soon!

MEN! That one word kind of sums it up, huh?

Hope you are feeling a bit better today!

LOL!

My dh let the kids watch a portion of Ace Ventura last night (just for a minute; not the whole thing). The boys were rolling on the floor. My 7-year-old daughter just looked confused. Finally she looked at me and said, "Why do they think this is funny?" I just smiled and said, "You have to be a boy, Sweetie."

You know how they sometimes say, "Do NOT try this at home." Well, they put those disclaimers in for my boys!

This is one reason I'm so glad we don't have tv connection. My boys would LOVE to watch a show like Extreme Sports and then try it for themselves! LOL!

I have to admit that I used to watch Jackass, but I thought Johnny Knoxville was cute, Steve thought he was cool. Goes to show you how different we really are!
Happy New Year!
