How a Beach Day Becomes a Homeschool Day

With your own two hands, you teach Latin, math, grammar and spelling. Science can be done at the water's edge. With your own two hands you pack up the beach paraphenalia.

Does everyone have their shoes? Where is the lesson in shoes, you ask? Well, if you brought it on the beach, you take it off of the beach. Vital life skills, responsibility and preparedness.

Science for the day is discussing why mommy has bunions on her feet. The answer is, she bought a pair of Keds in high school that were too small for her feet but insisted on wearing them anyway. They were really cute. The bunions are not cute. And yes, I know that my toes resemble peanuts. (What's with the freaky veins? Eeeeeee.)

Zoology, looking for sand crabs.

Last but not least, socialization. For all of the, "Aren't you afraid they won't know how to play with other children?" people.

A little sunburn on the forehead. Many laughs. A lot of sand in our bathing suits. Many gnarly waves caught on the boogie boards. Touch football. Digging just 'cause you can.

A good day? No. A great day!

Look to the finish!

What a beautiful day! Do you really live that close to the ocean? I am jealous! It looks absolutely gorgeous. And if you can turn it into a homeschool adventure, then that's all the better!

I hope you had a great Mother's Day!
