I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Today I received a huge blessing!

Last week at Bible study, one of the ladies said she had a message for me from her daughter, Alicia. I first met Alicia at the gym, where she worked in the daycare. When I used to walk in the gym and see her working, my heart would leap! She is wonderful with the kids and they love her, I always knew my boys were in good hands with her. Sadly, she quit to go to college. So Penny, her mother, says to me, "Alicia wants to help you out with the kids, I was telling her that you needed some help." I had been lamenting the week before about how I could really use an extra pair of hands around the house. I said that would be great! I inquired as to what she normally charged to babysit. And Penny said she didn't need to be paid. I told her that I would not expect her to work for nothing and Penny said, "Elaine, she just wants to serve you and not be paid." Well! I did not know what to say so I said, O.K. Today Alicia came and stayed with the kids for 2 1/2 hours while I went to get my haircut and run some errands. She is such a blessing. I asked again about paying her and she said, "I really enjoy being with your kids, they are so smart and funny. It's fun for me to be here. No need to pay me." I wanted to grab her and cry but I refrained. If she thinks I am crazy, she may not come back!

So I got a haircut knowing my children were being well cared for and played with.

Tonight we are off to Pack Night, the last night of Cub Scouts for this year. We are a little sad but it was a great year and Jeremy is very excited because next year he will be a Tiger!

I sent in my application for the marathon. I will know mid-June if I get chosen to run, let's hope it is a go!!

Oh, Laney, I am so happy for you and the blessing that you have been given named "Alicia". God is so very good! I couldn't have worked it out better (and HE knows I do try!)

Three cheers for you sending in the Marathon application. Now, it's in God's hands.

I love you.

Silly me, I didn't notice the Memorial Day post until after I commented here!
Laney, really, you shouldn't tell lies like that - yard work? you? when did that happen? did anyone see it? Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. I remember I let you stay inside and clean house because there was SO MUCH complaining.

I am very excited for you! That is really a blessing that someone you like and know would take care of the kids for you, and for nothing! That is tremendous!

Don't you just love it when stuff like that happens? You can see God at work.

Congrats on the marathon application! I am so in awe of anyone who can run like that, much less people who actually enjoy it! ;) Good luck- I hope you get chosen!

The Lord works in mysterious ways His wonders to reveal. I think that is just so cool!! God bless Alicia for hearing His call & answering. Service to another is what Jesus did (as you know) & how our walk should be done. That a young person is so dedicated gives me faith in the future generation.

That is a wonderful blessing! God knows our heart's desires, indeed. What a blessed heart she has as well.

Blessings!
