We Have a Mother Down, repeat, a Mother Down!

I.am.sick. Blah!

Doesn't it beat all? Just as everyone in the house is on the tail end of sickness, I catch whatever germs they were incubating!

For the past two weeks, our house has not resembled a home, but rather an Indonesian prison complete with sickness annd disease. The only things missing were the one light bulb hanging from the ceiling, gigantic rats and an incessant dripping water sound effect. We have run the gamut with boogers, eye goo, hacking coughs, post nasal drip and sneezing. (Sorry to anyone who is eating as they read this.)

Last night I began to feel increasingly icky. My throat was sore, I had a headache and if you looked into my left eye, you would have sworn I was half in the bag. I popped a couple of Advil and actually went to bed before 11 p.m.

This morning when I woke up, my left eye was crusty, a most attractive look, and my head felt like it weighed 3 million pounds. I still managed to clean the entire upstairs of the house and make pancakes for the kids. I had to get them ready because my parents were coming to get them at 11:00 for an afternoon adventure.

Laurie and I had made plans yesterday to go to Fortunoff's this afternoon and I really didn't want to disappoint her. I also really didn't want to go in the shower. The idea of going through my whole beautification ritual did not appeal to me, so I called Laurie and asked if she was showering today. She replied, negatory, and that settled it for me. I asked if she minded being seen with me and my crusty ogre eye and she said, no, as long as I didn't mind being seen with her and her rat's nest hair.

So off we went, Crusty Ogre Eye and Rats Nest Hair, what a pair! We each bought some Christmas stockings that were so deeply discounted, I actually felt guilty and a birthday present for our mother. We bopped on into the mall to do a snack stop for Tom and saw our three favorite words, 70% off sale, in Gymboree. We spent twenty-five dollars between us and walked out happy campers.

I arrived back home at 2:30 and hit the couch. I watched Rachel Ray for ten minutes until my eye lids felt like they weighed a thousand pounds. When I woke up it was dark and the kids were just getting back home.

I am once again ready for bed and Nyquil. I'm hoping that tomorrow when I wake up, my ogre eye will be no more.

Look to the finish!

Oh I can so relate! I have been absent from the blogosphere because of the same type of crud. Stuffy nose, coughing all night, sore throat- it all makes for one very tired mama.

Hang in there- I keep telling myself I am on the mend hoping my immune system will believe me!

Hope you are feeling better, Ms. Ogre Eye! Take it easy and rest on the couch--well, as much as you can with your little guys running around!!!

Sorry you are feeling so sick. But I think that you have the proper medicine. Rest, Nyquil, and 70% off sales. You're bound to feel better soon!

Aren't sisters great? They're the ones to whom you can look at and ask,
"Do I look like crap?"
"Yeah."
"So do you. Let's go."
(sniff, sniff, wiping a tear)

Feel better!

Ooo! Ooo! We have the hanging lightbulb and the dripping water! It's an awesome special effect, lemme tell ya. Glad you don't have it, though, or the full combination might cause you to emerge from this Ick w/ PTSD. Put your feet up, drink some garlic tea, put a compress on your Ogre Eye and relax.

I cannot believe you went *shopping* when you were sick. There are just some things I haven't the fortitude to do...

Get well soon!

I so know how that goes. I was sick a couple of weeks ago too. Remember: this too shall pass. Until then, whip out the whiskey (the cure-all per my mother) for all that ails you. Ah-better wait till the munchkins are off to bed for that one though. :-)
Hope you feel better soon.
