Bye-Bye, Bink

It's official.

The Bink is no more.

I guess it was time, he's going to be four in six months. He had it the longest of all three boys. Part of me really didn't want to take it away from him. He's my last baby. I want to bottle him and keep him three and a half forever.

I love his chubby toddler hands.

I love the little bit of baby fat that lingers on his thighs.

I love the way he pronounces the word hippopotomus. It comes out more like "hippomopotombs."

I love the sound of his sweet baby voice when he calls me Mommy.

I don't have binky issues. It never bothered me. But it sure bothered the old biddies in the grocery section of Wal-Mart who loved to say things like, "You're too old to have a binky." Good manners prevented me from smacking them upside the head with a bag of frozen peas. But good manners did not prevent me from saying, "We love binkies. After all, with a binky in your mouth you can't say rude things to complete strangers."

Bye-bye, baby. Hello little man.

*sniff-sniff*

Look to the finish!

I know how you feel! My baby is 5 and still addicted to sippy cups. He doesn't have them at night or anything, but in the afternoon he'll get sleepy, and cuddle up on the couch with a sippy cup and drift off. It's so cute, I hate to take them away from him! And he's my baby...

keep taking those pictures and remember, remember, remember.

My favorite thing was how my little ones would be restricted to the passy only at bedtime...and during the day I would catch them sneaking in for a quick little suck.

What a big boy! I can't believe he is almost 4. I forgot he and David are only a few months apart. He is so very handsome. Congrats on the bink milestone!

Well, well, well... Look who returned to blogging. I returned your sidebar status and did you the honor of replying to your comment on my blog. I would have typed it here, but somehow, it didn't seem right to call you a crybaby and a slacker on your own blog. ;)

oh wow- is he ever getting big!

Hippomopotombs...LOL!! That is so cute! I love it when kids have funny pronounciations for stuff. Heck, I love it when adults have funny misprounciations for stuff! Like my husband, who has been known to say "Pepsi-Cola, Florida" ;) I'll wager he was a "hippomopotombs" kind of kid.

He's not supposed to look that much like his big brothers! *sigh* They do that, don't they? (So handsome, though.)

Found your blog while looking for ways to wean my over 3 year old from the beloved binky. The dentist said that her mouth is changing shape because of it. Her front teeth don't touch when her mouth is closed. Anyway, do you have any suggestions since you weaned an older child too? She is really attached and would have it all day if we allowed it, but instead she goes in her room to play just so she can suck on it. By the way, the stories on your blog are great.
