Airplanes and Such

I am not a huge fan of flying on airplanes. I think it is a control issue because I am not overly thrilled with being a passenger in the car either. Flying, in and of itself, would be fine if there were no take-off and no landing. If the plane does not explode during take-off, I am more optimistic about surviving the rest of the flight. I brought Ann Coulter's new book with me because I figured it was easier to get myself all worked up over political issues then getting all worked up about being shark food. Kevin spent half of the flight looking out the window and the other half answering my questions. "Why doesn't the plane fall out of the sky?" "How does the plane get off the ground?" "Why are the flaps going up now?" "Now the flaps are going down, should they be going down?" "If we crashed now, would we survive?" To his credit he answered each and every question but I could tell his patience was wearing thin. The law of aerodynamics really fascinates me, so part of it was curiosity. My final question was the straw that broke the camel's back. "Why doesn't the plane just flip over from the back?" This question was asked while we were landing and then came his answer, "Shut-up." Alright! I can take a hint!

We took a cab from the airport to my parents house and I have four words for that: the smell of humanity!!

We ate dinner at Dan Marino's last night. No, not his house, his restaurant!! Surprisingly, it was very good. We had a great waitress, too. Whenever we have a good waitress I am always reminded of what a horrible waitress I was. I could never remember the little things that make for a great dining experience. My mom was a great waitress because she has a knack for making you feel like you are the only person/people who matter. Hmmm, why didn't I get that gene?

We came back home and watched "Survivor." We are huge survivor fans but what they did last night was just wrong!! You do not bring 20 people to an island only to get rid of two of them in less than 24 hours. I really wanted to cry for those people. I hope they never include that twist again! All in all it was a good show and promises to be an interesting season. I hope the NYC fireman wins, I really like that guy. They seem to have a good team with the brains and brawn to win. But this is Survivor and you never know....

One last thing, here is a little bit of irony for you. Wednesday I went to the library to return and borrow some books. The librarian told me I had a fine of $3.20 for a Dave Ramsey book, Total Money Makeover. I said to her, "Don't you think that's funny?" A fine for a book on how to put your finances back in order? I got a good guffaw from that one!

I thought it was awful to make those poor folks leave without even one try at the game. That's just rude!

I think they sent home the right person. I always think the person who made the bad decision or blew the task should go home. They rarely do that tho.

Oh. That's funny. I don't like sitting by the wings- those flaps look way too flimsy for me. And yet, they work. And yes, they're supposed to go down like that. ;-)

Enjoy your vacation! (I'm getting caught up backwards, and cannot believe you're blogging on vacation!)
