At Least It's Washable

Pictures? You're taking pictures of me with this marker on my face?

The dazed and confused look, he gets it from his father. Marker? What marker? There's marker on my face?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Joe. Joe, Joe, Joe! Oh, the shrieks of, "MOMMY," that you have elicited from your brothers in your short span of years. What would we do without you? I'll tell you what we would do, we (read I) would be able to answer nature's call in peace! We do love you, grasshopper!
His new phrase, when strapped in his carseat is, "stuck," followed by whines and grunts. I would tell him that he is supposed to be stuck, but he is a cunning little grasshopper, feigning a "poopie" to get out of his carseat. He discovered that Mommy would rather change his diaper on the bench seat of the van than lose time by stopping at a rest area. Kevin did the driving and I was in charge of all things fecal and foodal. Joe was really a trooper for the ride down to Wilmington, but he quickly discovered that a "poopie" would get him a carseat reprieve. He would yell "poopie" and, curiously enough, an odor would accompany the announcement, and I would get him out to change him. I let him sit for a few minutes outside of the carseat, and then, back in he would go. He would scream like an innocent man condemned to the electric chair,(o.k., maybe not that bad, but still, it's loud in a confined space.)
He is too funny.
Still waiting...
I'll update later if I hear anything.
ROFL!!! He's a smart one! Isabelle has marker on her this morning as well. Thankfully we only have washable in the house now, took my 4 kids to figure out to only buy those. ;-)
Isabelle will also say, "Stuck" in her carseat. Then she'll scream "OUT"! The funny thing is if her father is not buckled (which unfortunately is often, she's scream, "buckle up daddy, buckle up!" over and over and over and over and over (you get the idea?) again until he buckles! Ahhh the power of a 2yo. ;-)
He's adorable!
Way too cute! When my youngest son was 2 we caught him with the Vaseline-all over himself, the carpet, the walls! What else do you do than stifle the laughter and frustration, grab the camera and then sternly let him know that what he did was wrong, wrong, wrong!!!
I think Joe has talent. His use of a simple marker so calmly displayed in circles and lines...
"Simplicity and repose are the qualities that measure the true value of any work of art." -Frank Lloyd Wright-
And, he has the face to get away with most anything.
Oh, Laney! What would we do with clean, orderly, quiet lives? Without the humor and creativity, and those endearing sticky snuggles, warm sleepy heads, and bright spontaneous giggles?
*sigh* This is my favorite thing on earth.
Only the love of a grandma could see the beauty and talent of marker on the face. :-)
Okay, grandma, and a mom with a heart of gold.
My Justin never really screamed in his car seat, he just found out ways to get out of it, the sneaky little devil (er...angel) he was. One time we were driving through PA and he (Justin) got out of his car seat. So I pulled the Honda over to the side of the road and was putting him back in, suddenly I see a state trooper over my shoulder.
He says, "ma'am, what seems to be the problem".
I look at him in disbelief and say, "my son keeps getting out of his carseat so I have to keep pulling over to put him back in".
He looks at me with this incredulous look on his face and says, "um, have you ever heard of duct tape".
I'm like, "yes sir, but do you expect me to put duct tape over my baby?".
He says in all seriousness, "well, if it works!".
He then says he's got some in his car and I can borrow it.
I told him that wasn't necessary, and that I would find another way. He leaned in my car and told Justin (mind you-he's probably a year old at this point), and says, "Boy-you stay in your car seat for your mama."
Then leans over to Rebecca (she's 3 years old) and says "are you being a good girl?"
She says, "uh huh".
Then he says, "okay then, well have a nice day, ma'am". Then he gets in his car and drives off. Just leaving me on the side of the highway!
Well, I never!
That face. Those eyes.
Could you just spread him on a biscuit?!?
And *smart*! Figuring out that 'poopy' gets you out of the seat. That's innovative, man...
"In charge of all things fecal and foodal."
LOL...hey, that's my job, too. Oh, and navigator. Fun.
My 9mo has now figured out how to stand up in his high chair *and* stroller. I've tightened the straps as much as I think is humane. Gosh.
Thats not dazed and confused! It's intense concentration while considering every option! And the marker on the face is nothing more than tribal ritual.I do have Blackfoot in my family history you know.I am his father and trust me; that look is anything but dazed and confused.--- P.S. Thank you all for your prayers about the job. They notified me that I passed the CAST test. So we now know that I am not stupid and can proceed on to the next step!
What an adorable 'little man'. Handsome and smart! Wonderful that you have so many years ahead to enjoy him before he goes off to college etc.
