The Old Gray Mare...

... she ain't what she used to be!

I can count myself in the number of working moms, yet again. I started working yesterday at the Gold's Gym right around the corner from our house. I'm happy to be working again but man, if I am not s.o.r.e. The last time I lifted any weights was the Monday before we moved. It's amazing how quickly I got out of shape. To add insult to injury, I had to teach again today and I have to teach again tomorrow. Today was relatively easy because it was yoga/pilates but tomorrow morning is step.

And because I am just plain nuts, I crouched on the floor all yesterday and today afternoon and painted the corner round on the baseboard molding in the living room, dining room and kitchen. The previous owners left it wood and it didn't look nice because the baseboards are white. I am all hunched over and I can't straighten my legs out. Don't you feel better knowing that?

My heel is much better. I have found the key to living with plantar fasciitis: stretching and ice. I have made a (almost) complete recovery. I went barefoot for a few hours last night and my heel was aching. Other then that, I'm good.

We have been getting schoolwork done minus history and science. Not a complete minus, but I really have to discipline myself to stay on task with those electives. The boys love science and history so that's not really the problem, it's getting everyone back together after our big lunch break.

One last thing. Southern people don't think I'm funny. I know! You can't believe it either! I cracked my best fitness jokes yesterday and all I got was crickets. Maybe I need to grow on them.

Look to the finish!

LOL,that Southern people don't think your funny...I think you're hysterical.

The Hubbs and I are from New York and are also living South now. They didn't think I was funny either. They just "Don't GET IT!" But be encouraged though you WILL grow on them, lol!

Glad all went good with the move. Sounds like you are settling in wonderfully. Hugs to the little men!!
Don't work too hard.

First, may I just say, Please do not judge all southern people by the ones you are likely to find at Golds Gym. (ahem) You are a riot, However we could never be friends because of the whole working-out thing.....I'm sorry, it's me, it's not you. (Will you still help me with the flowers?)
Glad the heel is getting better.
I sympathize COMPLETELY about the corner round. I am STILL working on our trim.
And heck, give yourself a break, you are just getting moved in, it's O.K to miss a bit of science and history, you'll get back in the swing!

Welcome back to the Working Mom world - isn't it so much fun? I really wish I had taken one of your classes while you were here. Maybe one day you'll make a DVD - $$! I am glad you're feeling better. Your feet are vital, you need to take very good care of them. Lots of pedis! Yes, most southerners need time before the Yankees grow on them. They'll come around. Remember, things move slower once you cross that Mason/Dixon line...hehehe.

I am sure your humor will grow on them soon! You are a crack-up!

We have been lax on history and science too--for the same reason as you. After lunch just seems SO LATE and there are better things to do. I just keep thinking that the farther we get behind, the farther into summer we have to go--that helps a bit.

Oh Laney, I feel for ya! Most of my friends here are northern/easterners just because the southerners don't get my sarcasm! Most of them would rather be nice to my face and gossip behind my back. I'm the kind of gal that makes fun of the negative until it's not negative anymore. LOL

I have a lot of funny friends now! (yes, some are southerners...lol). Don't give up. Just make sure you make fun of yourself when the crickets are going on. They'll learn how to adapt to you. ;-)

BTW, I do love my Southern friends and there's nothing like the Southern hospitality! and food - yummy! Had to put some positive in there.

Honestly, it's not fair to them - we're different...lol
