Mother's Day in the Arctic Circle

I began my mother's day wearing skinny jeans, ballet flats and my adorable Nick and Mo sweater jacket. I have to show a picture of this jacket because - hello!- The Cuteness! The one that I own is not plum, but sun yellow. It is my new favorite piece of clothing and I would not own it if it were not for my mother. In fact, if it were not for my mother I would not own underwear or bras that fit me. How sad is that? A thirty-seven year old woman who can't buy her own underwear. As a side note, I also would not own a salad spinner if it were not for my mama. So now, I can spin my lettuce leaves in to perfection while wearing underwear that fit me. Life is good.

Anyway, I began the day looking cute and springy. I wish I could say that I ended it the same way. Yesterday was cold. Bone-chillingly cold. The sun was shining and the sky was the most magnificent shade of blue, but it was c-c-c-cold.

When we came out of church my husband remarked how cold he was. The man is like a furnace, he is always warm, so for him to admit that he was cold further supports my claim. He asked me, "Why didn't you wear a jacket?"

Duh.

Because I am a slave to fashion and I am willing to sacrifice my fingers and toes to frostbite before covering up my sweater with a winter parka. And sacrifice I did. I was over taken by a chill and I could not get warm. Even after we were home and I had changed into an undershirt, t-shirt, fisherman's sweater, and Ugg slippers. I was still cold.

We had a quiet mother's day, everyone was laying low. The boys were wiped out from their race weekend, and I had no desire to go and sit in a crowded restaurant to eat, so we stayed home and I made london broil on my George Foreman $2 garage sale bargain grill. Oh, George, how do I love thee? If you do not own George, I strongly suggest that you find him and purchase him. He will revolutionize your indoor grilling. I could not go outside to use my outdoor grill for fear of freezing to death.

How was your mother's day? Did you do anything special? More importantly, were you warm?
